Ilona Brusil is from Minsk, the capital of Belarus, formerly the Byelorussian Republic of the Soviet Union. She moved to the United States in 1989 as political refugee, first arriving in New York and then moving to San Francisco circa 1992. Today she works as an attorney in the Opera Plaza of the Civic Center area of San Francisco, Calif.
